Why buy Harman Kardon SB26 Sound bar ?

Harman Kardon SB26 Advanced Sound bar is ideally suited for smaller home theatre or living rooms since this bar and the matching subwoofer delivers rich, dynamic and room-filling sound. Reasons behind this is it’s good quality build and the overall ease-of-use in combination with good sound quality. For anyone looking to improve the sound in the home theatre or their living room, HK offers a lot of options anything from wireless little Bluetooth speakers to complete home theatre systems.

Features –

  • Audio Quality : It is definitely raising the bar in beautiful sound reproduction. With its latest advanced surround sound technology this sound bar is a class by itself, wireless streaming via Bluetooth, and classic Harman Kardon audio engineering. SB26 serves as a perfect duo to your HD flat screen television with its four woofers, two tweeters and powerful 100W subwoofer. This new sound bar comes with all the features to fit the modern, digitalized home allowing easy connectivity to tablets and smartphones. This system delivers a show-stopping power as any elaborate home theater sound system available and gives you a top class movie experience at home which you’ve only experienced at the multiplex.

  • Design : Just 1.25 inches thick, this newly announced sound bar is exceptionally svelte, with an aluminium cabinet that enhances its wing blade like shape. It conveniently uses Harman’s proprietary Wave digital signal processing to create a surround-sound effect without reflecting sound off the walls. Also, The bar itself has eight separate drivers. Around the back, there’s an IR repeater, to ensure your remote signals get to your TV even if the sound bar is blocking the sensor.
With the pretty straightforward layout of the inputs, each port is labelled to make sure you don’t get lost. Because the inputs become less accessible, especially if you wall mount it, It´s best to connect all cables before the sound bar is fixed in. This also applies to the equalizer setting on the back – a small switch with the options ‘Table’ or ‘Wall’ – which should be set at the correct position depending on the placement of the sound bar. On top of this sound bar you find five control buttons. Starting on the left is the on/off button, right next to it is the Surround Mode button, continued by the volume +/- and the Bluetooth button. A major part of the sound bar is the black metal grille at the front.

  • Connectivity : It has one Cable HDMI Connection to your TV. With dual HDMI inputs and one HDMI output with ARC support, giving you easy set up and no mess of cables, simply let your sound bar become the centrepiece of your home entertainment system. It also has Bluetooth connectivity. Using its built-in True Stream Bluetooth Technology it connects easily with a full range of Smartphone, tablet, and laptop-based broadcasting devices whether in Android or in iOS format. It also works with the Harman Kardon Remote app for easy set up and for deeper features and content management. To give a great experience, a lot of power is required by this setup. As per the company, it will need around 230 Watts of electricity at the highest settings, which is more than what your television will consume in most cases.

  • Easy to Use & Performance : It is the low weight of the Soundbar which makes it suitable for wall mounting. A look at the back reveals all the source inputs and outputs, and also, the power input DC and a port for an IR transmitter, which will come in handy if the sound bar is blocking the IR receiver on the TV. If this is the case, you can plug in a transmitter and point it in the direction of the TV.
There are three HDMI ports, two of which are inputs for source devices, and one HDMI output labelled ‘HDMI TV’ to connect to the TV allowing you to ‘pass-through’ the incoming signals. If your TV has ARC (Audio Return Channel), the sound bar should be connected to the TV’s ARC input. This lets you send the sound from the TV to the sound bar. A USB port is also available, but only serves to update the software.
The other ports are used for audio signals. If a TV is equipped with such a function, the corresponding HDMI port is usually marked with the letter ‘ARC’. The audio signals can be sent via an optical digital cable or via the auxiliary input, If you don´t have an ARC channel. With the preference of the digital option, a corresponding output on most modern TVs is usually available. All necessary cables are supplied by the way – very handy if you don´t have any cables lying around at home. The cables aren’t very long though, so if you need cables longer than 5 feet, be prepared to acquire additional ones.

Recommendation –

 Pros:  Cons:
  • It has four drivers and two tweeter on the bar itself for cleaner sound.
  • It comes with a 100 watts wireless subwoofer, which helps to deliver powerful bass.
  • Comes with bluetooth technology to stream music wirelessly from your smart phone.
  • It’s Remote control is not that impressive.
  • It does not include instruction manual but it is easily available online.

After going through quite a few units and extensively testing soundbars in the $300-$700 range, this buddy came out as a clear winner. It has crisp highs, pleasingly warm mids and the 10 inch subwoofer is a justified addition to the package, it can generate a considerable amount of boom when playing rap & electronic genre but is also relatively clean when listing to classical, blues, rock & metal. Personally i’m not too big into deafening bass but, if you are, it’s capable of delivering the same.

The wireless subwoofer has its own power brick and can be easily placed anywhere as per your acoustic taste. One thing to keep in mind is the short power cable of the sub and hence i recommend you to buy an extension for added flexibility. Experience the ground beneath your feet shaking. This whole system generates mind-blowing low-frequency audio and bright vocals. Harman Kardon SB26 Advanced Soundbar and the matching sub-woofer delivers amazing and jaw dropping sound. Purchase this awesome sound bar system if your pocket allows. If you are setting up a home theatre system then it is the best option available in the market when this review is being written. Along with its easy handling, it produces great audio. But before making a purchase, do consider the high power consumption of this device.
